Sexy Cool Product you need to know about!

We're one month into 2008 and time is flying by quickly. Please be sure to check out the calendar on my website! I'm going to be teaching my Delegate or Die class at Sacramento Area Borders locations throughout February along with a few other panel presentations (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EivCUivnMlE).

The Time It Takes to Get It All Done

The Tiime it Takes to Get it all DoneWe all think that we can do it all. Last time I checked, even Superman himself wasn't able to be in two places at once. Frankly, there will never be enough time in the day to get all of the things done we want to get done. And that's where prioritizing comes in. If it is really important to you, it gets to the top of the list.

Accountability Check-in:

How are you doing on those goals you set at the beginning of the year?

Project ideas for February:

One of the recurring themes that comes up with clients and in speaking sessions is getting it all done. I'd like to challenge you to flip that sentence around and look at "getting it all done" to "define what is really important and let go or delegate the rest."

I challenge you in February to:

  • Keep a notebook for seven days and write down all of the things you do each day. From make the bed, do laundry, make sales calls and write proposals.
  • Leave your office, go out for a cup of coffee, take 2 different highlighters and look at the list - objectively.
  • Highlight in one color the items that you could put off for a week and the world would not explode.
  • Highlight in another color the things you love to do that bring you immense joy and delight.

Here's the big question: What is rising to the top of the list? What's at the bottom?

In order to be more productive, we need to look at exactly what we spend our time on and make sure we love it and we've got the skill sets for it. And then, and more importantly, we need to be okay with the stuff at the bottom of the list being at the bottom of the list.

"Show me a jogger and I'll show you a strange person with a thing for pain…."

JessicaI have this quote on one of my favorite bookmarks. It's got a picture of Garfield (you know, the comic strip cat) in a pair of running shoes with a grim look on his face. Each time I see it, it makes me giggle and think that I am truly a strange person, although I'm not so sure about the thing for pain. I signed up for the Shamrock ‘n' Run Half Marathon that will be taking place on March 16th, 2008. As many of you may know, I've always enjoyed being outside walking, hiking, or playing catch.

A family friend ran her second Women's Nike Half Marathon in San Francisco this past October and after watching her finish her second race I swore I wouldn't watch her again, I'd run with her. The Shamrock is my first run longer than a 5k and I'm excited to be training. I am supported by family and friends. If you don't have anything going on March 16th, get your walking shoes out and sign up for the run. There is a 5k and the half marathon all culminating at Raley Field in West Sacramento. If you aren't up for the run, then come on down and be part of the fun!

Coakley Business Class ToteCoakley Business Class Tote Bag

You may already have seen me with my maroon tote bag. It carries EVERYTHING! You probably don't know the story behind this woman designer and why this bag is really the best business bag/laptop carrier in the world!

The reason I love my bag and would buy it again is:

  • The interior is a lighter color so I can SEE inside it (as opposed to a black interior that I can't see anything when looking for something.
  • It expands and has pockets in all of the right places for all of my business and personal tools.
  • It holds my 17" laptop comfortably.
  • It has a strategic zipper that allows me to slide a whole side of the bag over my luggage handle – it's not slipping off anything!
  • It makes me look good because I have all of my stuff well organized, including the kitchen sink.
  • And finally, it doesn't look like a boring black computer bag that someone may want to steal!

I met Mary Repke at a conference in Dallas. She told me that she designed this bag while feeling some extreme frustration waiting for her luggage at one of our more busy airports. On her way back from a business trip, the airline insisted that she check her carry-on luggage because she was over the limit of carry-on's allowed (purse, laptop, and carry-on). Knowing that collecting her luggage was going to take literally hours, she designed the skeleton of this bag on the airplane. She incorporated all of the things that she desired to have. Then, she wrote up a customer survey, took it to the business center at the airport and copied it a couple hundred times. She surveyed women waiting for their luggage to get clearer on their needs, desires and frustrations.

Voila! Coakley Business Class and the Travel Tote was born.

Go check out Mary's collection and see how it's going to fit into your life. You can get to her site through mine on the products page (details).
