Women's Empowerment

Room To Breathe is proud to re-organize the offices for Women’s Empowerment, which provides homeless women with peer counseling, job training and skills to help them live a confident life to become truly self-reliant.

As a professional organizer, I know the effect getting organized can have on a business and I thought it would have a great impact on Women’s Empowerment because they are truly in the trenches.

We initially talked with them about their filing systems only, but we soon realized that wasn’t enough. We needed to revamp the whole location. What they have works now. We just want it to work better, so we’ve come up with a new layout for the space and consolidating all of their existing areas and placing them strategically with intent. We plan on re-painting the facilities and are also looking to make the space inviting and welcoming with artwork and plants. We are looking for donations of furniture (specifically L Shaped desks and 4 drawer locking filing cabinets, and 6 foot cubicle walls), shelving units for the closets and plants. Any donations would be helpful and greatly appreciated.

The project starts on August 7th, so if you have donations, call 444-7666 to talk about how to give or send an e-mail to info@roomtobreathe.org as soon as possible!

What the Heck Happened to My Desk?

“I swear – my desk goes through so many different phases. Sometimes I can see over it and other times, when I stare at the mounds of paper, all I see is the movie Twister. It all depends on how frantic business is and what I have going on.”

If this statement sounds remotely familiar, Room To Breathe can help.

There are many different tools on the market to keep your desk clean and organized. You really have to sit down and think about what really works for you. As business owners, we often get caught up in buying the latest and greatest gadget that only adds another needless layer on the desk.

So how do you decide what to use? It’s all about consistency and what works for you. If what’s on your desk now truly works for you (be honest, digging through a mountain of papers really doesn’t work for you…does it?) then don’t buy something new. There’s just too much stuff out there to add to the clutter that is your desk. Instead of spending money on what is only going to find a home in the closet, just take the time to make sure you buy what works for you as an individual.

How Can Someone So Small Produce So Much Art?

How Can Someone So Small Produce So Much Art?

How is it that our kids come home with all that stuff from school - from artwork to homework to tests?

Your child’s creativity is something to be valued, especially their ability to see beyond much of what we see as adults. And while every scribble used to be precious, now it’s just overwhelming. So how do we decide what to keep and what to get rid of? The key is to harness that creativity and have our kids decide what to keep and what to get rid of.

Take a breath, roll up your sleeves and get to work. Start by going through all of the most recent year’s art projects with your kids. Have them choose their favorites and put them in an organizer. Imagine how easy it will be to find that special piece of art when Grandma and Grandpa come to visit!

Residential Organization

It's August, we're more than half way through the summer and thoughts of school are creeping back into your head. It’s time to start getting ready and organized for the coming school year.

We treat a Residential Organization much like we treat our other services. We begin by finding out what couple of areas in your house frustrate you the most. Then we perform an in-depth interview and provide a list of solutions.

Before your kids bring home a new pile of schoolwork, you should organize last year’s artwork. We’ll help you come up with a system to store and organize your child’s artwork and projects.

It doesn’t matter what areas of your house need to be organized, Room To Breathe is here to help. We will organize your problem areas and make sure the system we set up works for you, keeping you and your home neat and organized.
