What Do You Get That Person That Already Has Everything?

Nothing!

Instead of buying more “stuff” for the holidays, give a Gift Certificate for a Room To Breathe Organizational Assessment.

This 2 hour, in-depth consultation can be used in a business office or 2-3 rooms of a home. Have a Room To Breathe Professional Organizer with a fresh set of eyes review what is working and what’s not and then provide an easy to follow, written plan for how to make improvements. We’re completely confidential and each Organizational Assessment is tailored to the individual client’s working or living style.

As one client said:

"What makes working with Room To Breathe so special is that they tailor their approach to your thinking and working style. They literally sat there with me and walked me through getting organized. They identify needs and make sure they get handled. I truly do not know how I got along without them!" - Amanda Johnson, Financial Advisor, Sacramento, CA

It’s the perfect gift!

Get Your Personal Financial Paperwork In Order!

Yes, I did it. I had the talk with my parents. You know "THE talk", where I asked: "What do I need to know about your wishes if you get sick, or die? How should I take care of you down the road?" Yes, they were tough questions to ask. Frankly, it was time for me to get over myself and just ask them.

During the holidays, we gather our family together around us and if you haven’t already had “the talk,” now is the best time to make sure you and your siblings/parents/spouse, et cetera, are all on the same page about what’s going to happen. And, where all of the paperwork is to make sure instructions are followed. We’ve all heard it before: there is nothing worse than making difficult decisions at a very emotional time.

Things to keep in mind:

  • Who is the attorney that has written the Durable Power of Attorney, Advanced Healthcare Directive, Will and or Trust? Is there one?
  • What is the Financial Advisor’s name? Is there one?
  • Whom do you call to make sure financial instructions are followed?
  • If one parent/spouse is left to survive, do they know how to pay the bills so they can keep on going during the tough grief period?
  • Do you know where all of the financial and legal paperwork is to make the transition easy?

Yes, “the talk” was well worth it. Everyone in my family knows the plans and who is in charge of what.

To help get started gathering all the paperwork together in one place, Room To Breathe offers a convenient, easy to use binder for keeping financial information. Please click here for more information on this tool that you can use before, during or after having "the talk".

The Holidays Don't Mean You Can Slack On Keeping Up With Paperwork.

Oh yes, it’s the slip and slide from Thanksgiving in November all the way to the New Year on January 1st. What is it about this holiday season that makes us think that we don’t have to be as diligent about doing our filing and keeping up with our paperwork? There are industries that are booming at this time of the year, take Retail for instance. But in other businesses, that boom is not necessarily the case and we tend to put on our cruise control.

I think it must be a combination of the weather and all of the holiday parties that happen at this time of the year. We have the sense that we can let it all go and just get a fresh start after the New Year. It’s tough to stay motivated. However, step back, take a look and see, that December is the perfect time to clear up and set-up systems for the New Year.

Imagine what would happen if you get all of the receipts and paperwork ready now for the bookkeeper and CPA? What would happen if you had your marketing and sales plan ready to implement in the New Year? All of that stress at the beginning of the year would be non-existent! You could hit the ground running to not only achieve, but exceed your goals without being weighed down by figuring out how to do it and where to file the paper!

If you think you can’t find the time, then break the projects down and take 30 minutes each day to work on a little bit of organizing during December. It will pay off!

Oh, and if you feel you’ve gotten stuck, you know who to call! -- Room to Breathe, your friendly neighborhood Professional Organizers, of course!
